As the sun sinks and the city softens into evening, the fading light settles over the streets with a warm, gentle calm. It’s a moment that always makes me think of God—how His peace rests on us even in the middle of life’s bustle, echoing Psalm 4:8: “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” This painting is my way of capturing that sacred pause at day’s end, when we entrust the night—and all who journey through it—into His care. 'Mount Cook at Twilight' As the last light fades 'Mount Cook at Twilight' As the last light fades across Aoraki / Mount Cook, there’s a quiet reminder of God’s strength and constancy. The stillness of the mountains reflects the truth of Psalm 121:1–2 — “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and remember that the same God who formed these peaks is the One who steadies us.
