“Peace In The Deep” This painting is a portrait of “Peace In The Deep”
This painting is a portrait of my clever cousin, captured surrounded by the quiet blue world he loves to explore. Fully equipped in his scuba gear and suspended beneath the surface, he seems almost weightless — moving through a place of stillness, wonder, and hidden life.

I loved creating this piece and trying to capture both the complexity of the dive equipment and the calm atmosphere beneath the water. The swirling schools of fish and soft blue tones create a sense of movement and depth, while also reflecting the peaceful solitude that can be found far below the surface.

To me, this painting speaks of adventure, curiosity, and the rare kind of peace that comes when the noise of the world fades away. Beneath the surface there is another world entirely — quiet, beautiful, and full of awe.

“The sea is His, for He made it.”
— Psalm 95:5
“Little One, You Are Loved” Painted especially fo “Little One, You Are Loved”

Painted especially for a precious little girl’s nursery, this piece was created with joy, tenderness, and a deep sense of peace. I wanted it to feel gentle and safe — reflecting the quiet love that surrounds a child from the very beginning.

The Kōtare (Sacred Kingfisher) is known for nesting within the hollows of trees — hidden, protected places that feel almost like nature’s own nursery. Mother bird has more green plumage, while Father has blue, both leaning inward toward their chick in quiet care and attentiveness. Together they form a small circle of love, warmth, and belonging.

More than anything, this painting is a gentle reminder spoken over a child from the very beginning:
Little one, you are loved, protected, and deeply treasured.

For me, this painting became a reflection of family love — nurturing, steadfast, and protective — and of the beautiful shelter and security a child is meant to grow within. My hope is that as this little girl grows, she will always know she is carefully watched over and wonderfully loved.

Inspired by Psalm 91:4 in the Bible — “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge.”

These little tauhou—also known as silver-eyes or wax-eyes—are a familiar and welcome sight around our home. “Moffee” This piece was created for my niece’s bir “Moffee”
This piece was created for my niece’s birthday, inspired by her beloved bunny. I had so much fun bringing Moffee to life in a playful burst of colour—soft textures, expressive whiskers, and a dreamy, light-filled background. The loose, fluid style of this watercolour on canvas lets the colours dance and blend, capturing both the sweetness of her little companion and the joy of creating something just for her.

A rose gently opening, turning toward the light as each petal unfolds in its own time. Soft yet strong, it carries a quiet sense of calm and assurance.
There’s something deeply reassuring in this process—nothing forced, nothing rushed. Just a steady, natural becoming. This piece is a reminder that growth can be gentle, that strength can be soft, and that there is beauty in allowing things to unfold as they are meant to.

'Harbour of Light' was painted a couple of years a 'Harbour of Light' was painted a couple of years ago and was my very first exhibited piece. It’s part of a pair—its companion sold shortly after the exhibition—and now it feels like the right time for this one to find its home too, 394 x 190mm (frame size 640 x 438mm).

It was inspired by a fleeting moment on a heavy, grey day, when the clouds parted and light poured over Wellington Harbour. In that instant, I felt deeply comforted—as if God’s presence gently reached through the gloom to remind me He is always there. It reflects the beauty and subtlety found even in the darkest skies, where soft tones and shifting light reveal a quiet, sacred wonder. It is a reminder to pause, to look up, and to seek God’s presence in both the grey and the golden moments. His light is constant, steadying and full of peace—if only we take the time to see it.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Painted with a restrained palette, this work becomes a study in tone and subtle colour, allowing space itself to emerge through light and depth. There was no fixed plan—only a simple beginning, letting the scene unfold naturally into something more contemplative.
Standing before it, you are invited into that hush—to pause, to breathe, and to encounter the quiet presence that lingers within the stillness.

All ready for its new home! Side By Side – was a All ready for its new home!

Side By Side - was a deeply nostalgic painting for me to create.

When I took this reference photo, I knew I wanted to paint it. There was something about the light, the quiet companionship, and the steady rhythm of their steps that felt like a memory already forming.

Captured on our homeward journey from Papatahi Hut in the Rimutaka Forest Park, this scene shows my cousin and her 12-year-old daughter walking the longest bush hike she had ever completed — a true milestone. I later learned the trail is considered challenging: 27.8 kilometres with 2,120 metres of elevation. No wonder I ached all over for more than a week.

But what stayed with me wasn’t the ache — it was the image of them walking side by side. Shared effort. Growing strength. A moment of achievement that will one day feel even more precious.

This painting is about that — about walking further than you thought you could, and doing it together. 💛

Harvest of Blessings – reminds us of God’s faithfu Harvest of Blessings - reminds us of God’s faithful provision and the quiet abundance He places in our lives.

The golden fields, grazing cows, and sunlit hay bales reflect the fruitfulness that comes from diligent work under His guidance, while the peaceful farmhouse and barn speak of rest and contentment found in His care. As the sky transforms with the setting sun, we are reminded that every day brings His blessings—seen and unseen—that sustain and nurture us.

Peace in the Mountains – captures a quiet, expansi Peace in the Mountains - captures a quiet, expansive landscape where soft light, flowing water, and distant peaks invite stillness and reflection. A winding stream leads the eye through the valley toward the mountains beyond, symbolising a journey forward with purpose and hope. The layered hills and open sky create a sense of space, calm, and reassurance.

This painting is a companion piece to 'Streams in the Valley'. Together, they tell a story of God’s care through every season of life. While the valleys speak of refreshment and restoration, 'Peace in the Mountains' reminds us that God also meets us in life’s greater challenges, bringing peace, strength, and clarity as we walk through them.

Inspired by Isaiah 55:12:
“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

Anchored in Christ – Though the tide is low and th Anchored in Christ - Though the tide is low and the boats sit quietly on the sand, the anchor remains firm.

The bareness of the landscape reflects seasons of waiting — times that can feel empty, quiet, or stripped back, where growth is not yet visible. Yet this artwork speaks of the steady hope we have in Christ — not hurried, not shaken, but securely held even in barrenness. Beneath the stillness, God is at work, holding us fast while we wait.

Inspired by Hebrews 6:19:
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
